The Great Plague began in China and had its very first breakout there in 1333. It was carried by fleas on rats. Soon it traveled along the Silk Road and by ship, and ended up in Mongolia. After the Mongols used biological warfare, their enemies retreated to Europe bringing the Black Death with them.
